Success Story: Emily Capps Concepts & Copy

Emily Capps Web Site

I’ve known Emily Capps for years and we’ve worked together several times… In my humble opinion, she’s one of the most creative and most versatile copy writers working in metro Atlanta.

She called me this August and said that she had been having a lot of trouble with her current web designer. Emily had hired this freelancer, let’s call her B, late in the winter to help her make some upgrades to the design of her site and rebuild her portfolio with dozens of new projects. But despite providing B with all the copy, images and other assets necessary to get the job done, Emily just wasn’t seeing any results. Weeks turned into months and winter turned into spring and then summer with Emily still web site-less. Phone calls and emails to B wouldn’t be returned for weeks, if at all. Emily was ready to part company with B, but still needed to get her web site up. I told her we’d be happy to help and we officially started work early in September.

Three weeks later, the whole project was done and live on the web. That’s a fast turnaround, even for us. Generally, our web projects will run 4-6 weeks, but in Emily’s case, she had all of her page content and images ready for us on day 1 and also had a really clear vision for what she wanted to do visually. It’s rare for us to get ALL that from a client at the beginning of a project so Emily definitely deserves some of the credit for making this such a smooth project and a pleasure for our team to work on.

As a footnote, B finally responded to Emily’s final email to her… More than a month later. We actually designed, built, revised and launched Emily’s site in less time than in took B to answer an email. Unfortunately though, there are lots of “B”s out there in the world and it’s often hard to distinguish between the people that will do what they say and the people who will take you for a ride. If you want to improve your odds for a successful web or design project, don’t blindly hire friends and referrals. Check references and talk to real clients. It may save you months of heartache and frustration.

To end on a happy note though, check out Emily’s web site, it turned out great and I think it highlights her work really nicely.

Emily also had really nice things to say about us, which we always appreciate:

“People throw the word ‘love’ around a lot. Not me. So keep that in mind when I say I love Zero-G. Love! Love! Love! Hire them and you won’t regret it.” - Emily Capps

Thanks for a great project Emily!
